A Prayer for Sending a Child to Daycare for the First Time

Our beautiful daughter, Tabitha, is starting daycare for the first time this week, before I return to work next week. Our family has spent the most wonderful last three months, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my maternity leave, bonding with her. I can’t believe the time has already come for us to go to our own places of growth as we continue to grow as a family together!

I will have to admit that sending her to daycare is nerve-wracking for this first-time mama, but I am more than confident that God, who makes all things new, will continue to hold all of us in God’s arms no matter where we are!

A Prayer for Sending a Child to Daycare for the First Time

God Our Caretaker, 

As Tabitha goes to the daycare for the first time, 

go before her and sustain her 

with your overwhelming peace.

Be present at her crib, at her diaper changing station,

at the play mat and under the mobiles.

We praise you for the staff and teachers, and 

for their exceptional caretaking gifts for all the children in the room.

Guide us with your joy and help us to make this work.

Reunite us safely back to one another,

knowing that together or apart, 

we are held in your loving arms;

for you tend us so carefully and attentively 

beyond we can ever imagine, everywhere we go.
